More than 10 years covering regional and national news for Reuters, People Magazine and Courthouse News Service with 17 foundational years in local reporting and editing. My expertise includes government, politics and environment, but I am a communications generalist who can drop in anywhere and produce insightful work on any topic.
In 2022, I switched from journalism to marketing full time, first working five uncomfortable months in the Mister Car Wash national HQ then the past two years with University of Arizona Cooperative Extension. It turns out corporate profit makes me squirm a little, so I came back to public service.
For most of 2024, I focused on a redesign - concept, form and function - of the University of Arizona Cooperative Extension website. I chose (and often shot) photos and wrote copy for the Home page, About pages (including Mission & History and Impact pages) and all Topic and Local Office pages. Most of the stories on the News page are also mine.
I grew up in northern Illinois with a year-plus in Singapore and high school in Indiana. After seven years as an Army behavioral science combat medic (thanks for my degree!), I became a journalist and never looked back. I'm single (two grown daughters), active, outdoorsy and slightly golf obsessed. My dog Steve has a dog named Joey. I've been to about 25 countries and 40-plus states. I did standup comedy and got enough laughs to do it a few more times.
I don't slow down easily.
